He.. His Mustache

I’m definitely the kind who would tell my friends, "Grow a mustache and I would never been seen in public with you” or even worse ..horrid..disgusting..Only perverts and cops..gross..really creepy hetero. I’m no Tamizh ponnu in this. Yes, I do understand that men consider that a mustache compliments their masculinity and rugged look. But I tend to think they look either like a greasy child molester or a painfully ironic hipster. And making it easy this mouth accessory doesn’t need any cost and effort at all. Stop shaving and the rest of the world will take care of it.

And from where I come, they take so much pride in having one. But to me and a pool of women out there concealing the area between the nose and mouth with tawny hair, Big no. Okay, a goatee (sometimes sloppy) or a 5’o clock shadow is just acceptable.

PS: If my man would be reading this anytime in the future… A costume mustache (as in the picture) is the most you can think of.

Colored chicks

Was googling up for something and this image got me nostalgic. No it’s not Photoshoped. I remember when I was about 9 -10 yrs old, we used to have vendors selling these colored chicks crowded in baskets during summer. If I’m not wrong I remember those costing ten rupees a pair. We never used to be found of the typical pets, cats and dogs (I still am not) but always loved having an aquarium and growing these colored chickens, thou the dye never used to last more than a couple of weeks, if they ever lived that long. But what I used to believe then was they were dyed when they were about to be sold, but actually a non toxic dye is injected into the eggs before they are hatched which causes their downs to be colored. Have to admit, I did a lot of begging to get them then. And here, you get colored baby chicks (even colored bunnies) sold during Easter for kids. Would love to have them again, but where do I grow them …my bath tub or oven??

Bridget Jones & Me

Bridget Jones's Diary so reminds me of my life.
My struggle against my age, my job, my weight and my many many imperfections. Its so alike, except for the Mark Darcy ! Its okay, Barristers don't interest me much. Ahemmm..I wish a disreputable and charming boss like Daniel Cleaver (atleast in a million years from now). Sigh !!!

Yaayyy...I know lines by heart..
"Am enjoying a relationship with two men simultaneously.
The first is called Ben, the other, Jerry."

Random Me :)

Its not all that bad..

..........to live in London.

Its Sunday. Slept like a log. Brunch. Call amma and appa. laundry. more laundry. Long Shower. Bored..social networking.. Bored again. Youtube. Extremely bored now..sleep.

Its 7 PM. I walk out. Quiet stroll. Grab some chicken n chips. Settle near the football ground. Enjoying my independence,my chicken and myself.

I hate to accept that I'm lonely here. But this is definitely letting me know myself better. Loving all this freedom. Not that i was questioned back home. I had ample freedom. But this is definitely a different kind. Doing random things i never thought i would ever do alone. Either ways, both good and bad. Thou i complain about being here. I secretly like it. I hate it when anybody pops out this question "Any plans of going to India??" . Like i don't what to. Obviously missing my folks back home. But I'll only go when i feel complete about going. Until then. I'm gonna enjoy my independence , my chicken and myself.

(PS: I forgot to mention Instant Noodles...Probably my next post !! )

5 MAD THINGS!!!!!

Yepp..It’s been a while (a long while) and I thought I should first let you know how mad I’ve been...

1)Yes I am a Snooze Slave: I shouldn’t be doing this!! Ok... let me set my alarm for 3.30, 4 hrs of good studies and off to office … Well actually, set an alarm for 3.30, snooze 12 times… 12 x 9 = 108 .. Wake up 5.30ishh… feel extremely proud of myself that I’m actually up before the sun. A steaming cup of hot chocolate, Open the PHP tutorial….annnddd… 3 happy hours under my duvet!!! Wow watta morning.

2)I’m so happy today… I’ve decided to treat myself (its ok if I miss my diet 1 day)….Do my list, spend 2 hrs at the mall, cook for 2 more hours .. thats pretty much 11 PM… and I realize I’m not hungry and its too boring to eat all that alone.

3)I’m posting a surprise gift for my mom…. But heyyy did u know it’s from London to Kadayam and for MY MOM. It will reach her without a “To” address.

4)The time is 12 A.M. I’m dressing up to go nowhere. Do my hairs, nails, pick up a top I bought 2 yrs back but never had an occasion to wear it. Feel extremely good.
Take 57 pictures with 21 expressions. Feeling even better…There is one decent looking snap. My day is made. Remove my make up. Hit the bed.

5)I feel like eating “moor kholambu”. Browse the internet. Call up friends, mom, sister. Get 10 styles of the same dish… Northie, Mallu, Iyer, Tamil, Goan . Compile my own style. Ahem… It’s getting too complicated. Instant Noodles will do.

Don’t blame me. In a city where it’s sunny, rainy n snowy the same day and for someone whoz deep stuck in love with her 45 yr old boss...It happens!!

Mahatma Gandhi ...errr...Shilpa Shetty.... !!!

UK buses are no better than our desi travels ....i was completely absorbed in boredom.. and here comes my friend from Sudan..(err... with a strong smell of red bull... and more cans of red bull ..again) . very generously offering me one, started the conversation..

My friend: Can i guess ur age ??

Me: mmmm.. yeaa

My friend: 23 ..

Me: Nope... ( Do i look so old !!??!!)

My friend: 21 !!??

Me: yepp

( and now my turn to guess obviously)

Me: U must be arnd 26-28 .

My friend: Correct... U intelligent -- Indian -- Shilpa Shetty ...

Me: errrr.... (Smiling) So u watch Big brother..

My friend: Yea for Shilpa.. She is crazy -- beautiful-- female..

Me: (nodding)

My friend: Shilpa - win-- Big brother... beautiful--intelligent-- kind hearted-- help-- like MAHATMA GANDHI ...

Me: Did u say MAHATMA GANDHI ??!!! ( Confused ..)

( Couldnt stop laughing ..)

My friend: yes -- MAHATMA GANDHI-- Good heart..Africa come help-- non violence...

(He went on..)

Suddenly it looked like he knew more of indian history than me.. thanks to Lage Raho Munna Bhai..helping me make the conversation..after hours of conversation about the world , Indian marriages, Bollywood, Sudan, Jade goodie and.. obviously our very own Shilpa Shetty :)...
I was left thinking about how a one month stint, out-of-the-blue win in a reality show and a row of racist bullying attacks has opened more vistas with international headlines, film offers and endorsements than her 10 yr old film career ever did and more importantly highlighted the issue of racism in Britain wid huge support from Asian and African countries...Thankyou Shilpa....(err...Mahatma Gandhi)...
